CHIARA INNOCENTI and FRANCESCA DI BENEDETTO

TUNIA

Tunia, deep in the bosom of Tuscany’s Val di Chiana valley, was born in 2008 from the deep desire of 3 friends to change their life and begin communing with terroir and begin making natural wines. Imbued with the sacred fire of love of terroir and making real vibrantly alive wines, the two souls of Tunia are Chiara and Francesca: Francesca, a biologist and oenologist by training, follows work in the vineyard and cellar, while Chiara, with an economics background, handles all commercial matters.

While many old vineyards were being explanted to make room for fashionable international varieties, Tunia decided to save from oblivion many elder vines of over 50 years of age, where they now organically farm, among others, Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo, Trebbiano and Vermentino.

All fermentations are wild and winemaking is as natural and respectful of grape and terroir as possible, resulting in wines that are vibrantly alive and marry complexity with drinkability.
