The "Terre di Giotto" is the passion project of Michele Lorenzetti, one of the most respected biodynamic professionals in Italy and beyond, coming from a background also as an oenologist and microbiologist. In the Mugello hills, at the foot of Tuscany’s Appennino mountains and not far from Florence, Michele farms with rare focus and loving care a number of old vineyards with local varieties such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Malvasia, and a stunningly beautiful vineyard at almost 700m of elevation in the middle of the woods, which he planted in 2009 with Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Riesling. These French varieties in Mugello were not casually chosen and trace their heritage back to the mid 1800’s, when the oenologist Marquis Vittorio degli Albizi began implanting them in this terroir he saw as particularly suited. Michele’s wines pulsate with unending vitality, ageless complexity and luminous focus, ranging from the intensely elegant Pinot Noir to the vibrantly deep and expressive Chenin.
