VINO DEL POGGIO ROSSO NAVEL 2010
Andrea’s Navel is his most “important” red, a natural wine where a primeval, almost feral rustic immediacy is in perfect and almost impossible balance with a lyrical depth and complexity. It’s a blend of Barbera and Bonarda, the most representative grapes from Emilia Romagna’s Colli Piacentini hills, from old vines of over 50 years of age that sees a maceration of no less than 3 months during wild fermentation, then aging of 3-5 years in used barriques and tonneaus. No fining, filtration or added SO2 to be found here. Breathtaking power and intensity: chutney of black mulberries, tobacco and dried lavender with curried boysenberries, nutmeg and forgotten spices.
