JAKOT 2006
Often the more overlooked wine in Radikon’s lineup, the Jakot (the inverted spelling of the Tocai grape, which was forced by the EU to change its name to Friulano years back) is also the one with a smaller production and a more introverted, crepuscular personality. It’s also a wine capable of expressing nearly infinite depth and reaching peaks of astounding gustative tension. Wildly fermented in open wooden vats, it sees 3-4 months of maceration on the skins and aging of at least 36 months in large wood and 18 in the bottle. Exhibiting a more subtle, intellectual and brooding character when compared to the more passionate Ribolla, it enchants with notes of dried prickly pear, lightly smoked almonds, spiced papaya and tamarind confit. No added SO2 nor fining or filtering.
