This nothing less than psychedelic rosè from natural wine bad boy Anthony Tortul sees a baffling array of grapes, many quite rare and from old vines in the Languedoc Roussillon. Let’s see: Muscat d’Alexandria, Muscat Petit Grain, Nielluciu, Cardinal, Listan, Chasselas and God knows what else… It sees wild fermentation and, according to the grapes, either direct-pressing or some skin contact in steel, then no intrusive and demeaning fining, filtration or added SO2 before bottling. Gloriously and carnally juicy, lush and crazily fresh: sherbet of pomegranate, tamarind and candied violet petals with smoked rhubarb and cassis.
