This particularly rare and truly mind-bending special edition of Eric’s Tavel is born out of a single cru of 70 years old, co-planted Grenache, Cinsault, Clairette, Carignan and Mourvèdre, all organically farmed on soils of sand, gravel and white clay. Spontaneously fermented, it ages in large wood for no less than 12 months and it’s bottled with no fining, filtration or added SO2. Lushly concentrated and staggeringly powerful yet sharply focused and super-drinkable: chargrilled Japanese purple plum with hibiscus petals, absinthe and allspice, dark Venezuela cocoa with red tobacco and pomegranate.
